Any tips on explaining back pain to a GP without sounding dramatic?

I've had this lower back ache for two weeks, probably from sitting too much for research. I know NHS GPs can be quite literal, but I've no idea how to describe the pain accurately in English without it sounding like a major injury. I don't want them to think I'm looking for strong painkillers, just need some advice or physio referral if possible. Has anyone had similar issues with describing chronic dull pain?

Say it's a 'dull ache that gets worse after long periods of sitting.' Avoid words like 'severe' unless it's actually urgent. They'll likely check your movement first.

I had this last year. I asked for a physio assessment and they booked me in within a month. Mentioning it affects your walking helped speed it up.

Be careful, if you say 'pain' too strongly they might try to sell you NHS 24 options first. Keep it clinical.
